The TMA had concerns about privacy and safety issues for both doctors and patients, raised by the Life Defense Act of 2012,
HB3808, and explained them in a recent interview on WKRN-TV in Nashville. The interview aired Tuesday, March 20, with TMA Executive Vice President Russ Miller explaining physician concerns with the measure.
Since the interview aired, the provisions the TMA was concerned about have been removed from the bill.

"What concerns us most [is] the safety of physicians in our state, the healthcare providers and their families," said Miller in the news interview. He explained the TMA believed the original bill would create problems with regard to personal and professional privacy for physicians, as well as pose safety issues for physicians and their patients, and did not improve the care of patients in Tennessee.
