Physicians Involved at Tennessee’s Capitol Hill (PITCH) 2011 was a single, unified day for medicine in the halls of the Legislature. Some 130 physicians and supporters came together on March 8 to rally behind organized medicine’s agenda.

Regional buses arrived mid-morning from East and West Tennessee. Physicians, spouses and practice managers fanned out for tours or individual appointments with their lawmakers. Meetings with lawmakers focused on TMA issues, including tort reform, peer review, interventional pain management and pain clinic regulation, psychologists prescribing, and title transparency. Physicians and lawmakers lunched together at the nearby DoubleTree Hotel, and then headed back to Capitol Hill. Throughout the day, PITCH attendees observed legislative committee hearings, including a House Health Subcommittee debate on the TMA’s Title Transparency bill, which ultimately was approved by the subcommittee and now goes to the full House Health Committee.
