TMEF Medical Student Scholarships

2020-2021 Scholarship Information

TMEF is an independent, nonprofit 501(c)3 corporation, created by the Tennessee Medical Association in 1963 with the purpose to provide scholarships to students enrolled in accredited medical schools in Tennessee.

Scholarship Amounts
The scholarships available are entirely "need-based" without regard to course of study, academic performance or year of school and are restricted to medical school expenses only. All scholarships will be disbursed directly to the medical school in which the applicant is enrolled.

Scholarships range from $1,000 - $10,000 per year, based on financial need. Financial need is determined in part by a financial need ranking by the student's medical school.

Application Requirements:

  •  Must be a U.S. citizen and a legal resident of the state of Tennessee as certified by the medical school in which enrolled
  •  Must be enrolled in or accepted for enrollment in an accredited medical school within the state of Tennessee
  •  Provide documentation of financial need to pursue a course of study in medicine by meeting Federal Unsubsidized William D. Ford Loan eligibility requirements
  •  Must be a member of the Tennessee Medical Association

Important Dates:
Applications are online and available through April 15 at tnmed.org/scholarshipapplication.
