For additional questions about the Medical Student Leadership Summit, contact Meg Book-Smith or call 615.460.1672.

The TMA Medical Student Leadership Summit is a one-day conference designed for medical students interested in organized medicine, advocacy and leadership training. All current students enrolled in a Tennessee medical school are eligible to apply.

The Leadership Summit is funded by a generous grant through the Tennessee Medical Education Foundation, which covers hotel rooms on Friday night, three meals, program speakers and materials.

Join students from across the state at dinner for a time to network and connect before the program starts on Saturday morning.

Organized Medicine: Hear from an active TMA physician member about the importance of organized medicine and how to get involved in important association business and policymaking. Learn how association membership can empower you to make a difference in healthcare and with your patients.

Advocacy 101: Learn about the state legislative process from a member of TMA's government affairs team, including how to communicate and build relationships with legislators, and participate in influential grassroots advocacy.

Media and Communications: Receive hands-on media training where you'll learn how to communicate your message to different audiences including media, legislators, hospital administrators, colleagues and more. Practice delivering a clear, concise and compelling message while presenting yourself as a reliable and credible source.
