HERO trials seek volunteers in TN

The Healthcare Worker Exposure Response & Outcomes (HERO) Registry is a national clinical research community seeking volunteer clinicians and medical workers to share their experiences serving on the front lines battling COVID-19. 

HERO-HCQ is a randomized clinical trial of approximately 15,000 HERO Registry participants. It will test whether hydroxychloroquine (HCQ, brand name Plaquenil®) can prevent COVID-19 infection in healthcare workers.

Two sites in Tennessee will coordinate with 40 sites nationwide. Vanderbilt University and Clinical Trials Center of Middle Tennessee on the Williamson Medical Center campus.  Healthcare workers affiliated with the sites or other community sites such as nursing homes, EMS, and assisted living centers may be eligible to enroll.

Volunteers will have opportunities to participate in trials such as the hydroxychloroquine prevention trial if interested and may elect to participate on a case by case basis.
