Doctors' Day on the Hill

TMA’s annual policy briefing and lobby day in Nashville connects physicians directly with lawmakers so they can advocate for their patients and discuss major issues affecting the medical profession in Tennessee.

The 2023 event was held on Tuesday, March 7. Over 250 physicians, students, residents, alliance members, medical office staff and health care administrators showed up to lobby legislators on the major issues impacting the practice of medicine in Tennessee, including issues like reproductive health, prior authorization, balance billing, scope of practice and physician wellness.

A total of 28 of Tennessee’s 95 counties were represented at the event, and TMA members met with 85 legislators out of the 132 total in the Tennessee General Assembly. This represents an eight percent increase in district coverage and a four percent increase in legislator coverage compared with last year’s event.

This annual event is free for all TMA physician members, medical office staff and healthcare administrators, but registration is required. We look forward to welcoming you to the capitol next year. Only through your active involvement and passion for good healthcare policy does Doctors’ Day on the Hill continue to be a resounding success.
