TMA is widely regarded among Tennessee policymakers and political insiders as the most influential advocacy organization for physicians. We are the only organization representing all doctors statewide, and that strong, unified voice gives us the clout to successfully influence laws, rules and regulations that determine how healthcare is delivered in this state. Some of our major policy wins include tort reform, prior authorization reform and exempting physicians from the professional privilege tax.
TMA is your source for legal guidance and interpretation. Our organization advocates in court, represents medicine before state and federal regulatory boards and committees, offers legal and healthcare compliance guidance, reviews hospital medical staff bylaws, and more. Just one call to our in-house attorneys can save you hundreds of dollars and offset your annual dues. Members also have full access to TMA's online law guide with over 100 medico-legal and practice management topics.
TMA helps physicians avoid or mitigate some payer hassles by assisting practices with payment disputes. The advocacy team also works on behalf of members to address systemic insurance issues and help physicians navigate the increasingly complex and cumbersome necessity of doing business with health plans.
We make CME easier— both in-person and online— to help doctors maintain professional licensure and certifications at low cost. TMA offers proprietary, accredited CME content and can also accredit other organizations’ education programs to help physicians improve competence, performance, and patient outcomes.
TMA expanded its physician leadership training programs to help doctors excel in their practice environments, in their profession and in their communities. Members have access to different courses from fundamental leadership training to in-depth projects to drive quality improvement, increase efficiencies and reduce costs in the clinical setting.
