Dr. John McCarley Voted TMA President-Elect

NASHVILLE, TENN. —John McCarley, MD, a nephrologist with Nephrology Associates in Chattanooga, Tenn., has been named President-Elect of the Tennessee Medical Association following a February election among its 10,000 members.

More than 700 members cast ballots in the month-long election, representing one of the highest turnout of voters in recent years.

Dr. McCarley will serve one year as President-Elect, one year as President and one year as Immediate Past President. His primary role is to serve as the face of the organization and spokesman for TMA with its membership, the media, government officials and the citizens of Tennessee. His formal installation will take place at April's House of Delegates meeting in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

TMA will install Ballad Health pediatrician Landon Combs, MD, of Gray, Tenn., as its President during the meeting with current President Andrew Watson, MD, a Memphis cardiologist, continuing his leadership service as Immediate Past President. 

The following members were also elected to serve in leadership roles on TMA Board of Trustees and Judicial Council.

•    Region 5: Brent Staton, MD, Cookeville
•    Region 7: Timothy Wilson, MD, Knoxville
