TMA Board of Trustees January 2024 Meeting Recap

1/17/2024

The TMA Board of Trustees convened for its first quarterly meeting on Saturday, Jan. 13 at the TMA offices in Nashville.

The following is a summary of actions and discussions:

•Staff reported the results of a 10-question survey of its members to gauge policy positions on legislative issues expected to arise in the 2024 session.
•The Board reviewed a draft plan to drive the creation of a new TMA program to help TMA resident members find positions with TMA member practices upon completion of their training programs. This is to be a focus project of the Resident and Fellows Section.
•The new logo for the Ingram Institute for Physician Leadership was unveiled along with plans for 2024. There is a pressing need to secure new financial support for the continuation of The Ingram Institute in 2024 for the 2025 programming and beyond.  Almost 300 physicians have been through the college.
•Committees for 2024 have been appointed. Members will receive notification and instructions from headquarters and the terms will begin following the Annual Meeting in April.
•Preparation for the House of Delegates and the TMA Annual Meeting continues. The Board reviewed the first resolutions received. If your society plans to submit resolutions for the HOD, the first deadline for legislative impact resolutions is March 16th. The final deadline to submit all other resolutions is March 23rd. On Friday, April 5, TMA will feature a full day of CME on primary care clinical training in partnership with MedX. Eight hours of CME will be offered.
•The Membership Committee reported that TMA has surpassed 10,000 members for the first time. Renewals are ahead of pace from last year. Members are encouraged to renew your memberships by March 31 for the 2024 year!
•General Assembly has reconvened for the 2024 session.  Staff updated the board on current discussion with Physician Assistants about modifications to collaboration rules.
•The details of our new format for our annual Day on the Hill slated for March 5 were discussed.
•The Board approved the final 2024 budget.

The next Board of Trustees meeting will take place at the start of the Annual Meeting in Murfreesboro on April 5, 2024. If you have issues or communication for the Board, use our online form or contact Amy Campoli at amy.campoli@tnmed.org.
